Top 5 Things You Need in Your Pack This Hunting Season

A good hunting pack should have everything that you will need for your hunt, but we all know that sometimes everything doesn’t go as planned. While there are many hunts where all you may need is some snacks and a knife, there are others where you are going to need much more.

Here are the top five things that you may need to pack this hunting season. Whether it is only for a single day, or out in the woods for a whole week, these five items will ensure a safe, successful, and better hunting experience!

NUMBER ONE: It is not hard to figure out why this is on our list. After getting caught out in the rain once, you will never forget your rain gear ever again. A good set of rain gear will be packable and lightweight, and most of the time you will not even realize you have it. But when an unexpected storm rolls in (as they always seem to do), you will be glad that you do have it!

NUMBER TWO: One of the most important things that you can have is a good medical kit with you. While this may never get used (and hopefully it doesn’t) it is easily one thing that every serious hunter should carry with them. It is a good idea to even have multiple kits, such as a smaller one that you keep in your hunting pack and a larger one at your vehicle.

NUMBER THREE: Another essential piece of gear is a source of light for when it gets dark. Even if you think that you will not be out in the dark at all, you never know what might happen. You might not have planned to be out that late, or maybe you shoot a deer right at dark and have to pack it out. Whatever the case, it is important to have a few different sources of light such as a headlamp, flashlight, or even some glow sticks.

NUMBER FOUR: Paracord is a great thing to throw in your pack because of how versatile it is. It weighs next to nothing and there are few things that it cannot fix. It can hold an insane amount of weight, and in a pinch, can be used to do anything from setting up a shelter to hanging up an animal. Paracord is a great addition to any hunting pack and you would be surprised at how handy it can be.

NUMBER FIVE: A good, sharp knife is obviously essential on any hunting trip. After all, what are you going to do after a successful hunt without a knife? A quality knife cannot be understated on how important it is. There are many knives out on the market today with replaceable blades, so you can always ensure that you are working with a sharp blade whatever you are doing!
